The Art of Taste 2016: Four Days of Decadent Dining & Drink in Cabo San Lucas

The Resort at Pedregal hosted one of its most anticipated events, The Art of Taste, over four days in October 2016. One of Mexico’s best food and wine festivals, The Art of Taste kicked off with a delectable Dia de los Muertos dinner and gala celebration featuring delicacies inspired by the flavors of Mexico and Baja California.

The exclusive Art of Taste wine and food festival was limited to 140 guests, with a select group of master chefs invited from the international culinary world to share their craft, including Sonya Coté of Coté Catering in Austin, TX; Richard Reddington of REDD in Napa Valley, California; and Dakota Weiss of Estrella in Los Angeles, CA. Food and drink highlights included artisanal cheese platters, handcrafted charcuteries, and tastes of premium tequila by Clase Azul, poured from custom-designed, hand-painted bottles. Additional highlights included hands-on cooking classes from world-renowned culinary greats, wine tastings led by master sommeliers, and innovative cocktails made by our creative mixologists.

Our very own Executive Chef Gustavo Pinet made waves with his delicious Salsa Verde Cruda recipe, one of the most talked-about dishes at The Art of Taste 2016—and now you can have it!

Salsa Verde Cruda


  • 20 oz Tomatillo (green tomato)
  • 2 bunches of Cilantro
  • 1 oz White Onion
  • 2 oz Jalapeno Chile
  • 4 oz Avocado
  • 1 oz Red Onion


  • Blend the tomatillo with the white onion, jalapeno, one bunch of cilantro, and half of the avocado
  • Chop in small dice the red onion and the remaining avocado
  • Finely chop the remaining cilantro
  • Mix all ingredients, add salt and pepper

The 2016 Art of Taste festival was the undisputed gourmet food and wine highlight of the year in Cabo San Lucas, but we’re already planning more for 2017! Over its five years at The Resort at Pedregal, The Art of Taste has evolved into a coveted culinary event that cannot be contained in just four days. Our forward-thinking chefs and talented event planners have partnered to create a series of special culinary events including holiday-themed menus, tastings, and some surprises along the way in the coming months, starting around Valentine’s Day.
